GiraffeGuru Support
GiraffeGuru provides private, on-device live transcription and translation, podcast learning, a bilingual journal, saved vocabulary, and local recordings.
Requirements
- An iPhone or iPad running iOS or iPadOS 26 or later
- On iPhone, iOS 26 supports iPhone 11 and later and iPhone SE (2nd generation) and later
- Microphone and speech-recognition permission for live listening and recordings
- Free device storage for downloaded speech, translation, and podcast files
- An internet connection for initial language downloads and podcast discovery or downloads
Speech and translation availability varies by language, region, device hardware, and installed Apple language resources. The app checks availability before starting and explains when an additional download is required.
Quick help
Live transcription or translation does not start
Open the language settings from the gear button, confirm the spoken and translated languages, and download any language resources marked as required. Verify that microphone and speech-recognition access are enabled in iOS Settings.
I want transcription without translation
Turn Translation off in language settings. GiraffeGuru will show the selected spoken-language transcript without generating a translated line.
A downloaded podcast is missing
Open the Podcast tab and check Downloads. If an older download is not listed, return to the episode and download it again. Make sure the app has enough free storage.
Delete local content or reduce storage
Delete downloaded podcast episodes from Podcast. Saved recordings show their storage use and let you delete audio while keeping the transcript when available.
